Due to changes in the argument parsing in smbclient, smbtar no longer works. (Current SAMBA_3_0 CVS, as opposed to 3.0alpha23, but 3.0alpha23 is the only version I get to select). currently I'm getting a segv; other results have included creating a file called \\server\share.tar, and bombing with a usage message.
giving this to jelmer since he is also look at smbclient --tar

a patch is available under bug 206 which I believe fixes this problem.
Yes, I intend to apply it after I sort out this password command line problem. Just out of curiosity what command line did you use to test it? I have to do (from memory): smbclient //server/share password1 -U user%password2 -Tc foo.tar where password2 is ignored.
This should be fixed now after Jeremy's round of changes
originally reported against 3.0alpha23. Bugzilla spring cleaning.
sorry for the same, cleaning up the database to prevent unecessary reopens of bugs.
