Comment 2 Andreas Schlager 2003-06-17 05:58:22 UTC
I had the same problem, but this was related that the samba-server was
configured to use unicode.

I made following entries in smb.conf:

character set = ISO8859-15
client code page = 850

Comment 3 Matthias Sutter 2003-06-18 02:29:16 UTC
Oh thanks,
That's all !!! Now it work fine.
Sombody should mark this part in the Documenation. You can be crazy with this
error and i haven't found something about this parameter.

Comment 5 Tim Potter 2003-06-22 18:37:11 UTC
Should we open a documentation but about having to set the client codepage?
Comment 6 Gerald (Jerry) Carter 2003-07-15 09:26:56 UTC
moving to extended character component
Comment 7 Alexander Bokovoy 2003-07-15 10:59:25 UTC
'client code page' and 'character set' are options for Samba 2.2.
Appropriate options in Samba 3.0 are 'dos charset' and 'unix charset'. This bug
is marked as for Samba 3.0, could you please confirm version mixture?
Comment 8 Matthias Sutter 2003-07-15 13:17:17 UTC
Hat do you mean with version mixture?
Maybe you mean this:

I installed the Version 3 beta 1 in on independent sub directory.
The "old" version 2.2 is installed in the folder /opt/samba

Or do you mean anything alse?
Comment 9 Andreas Schlager 2003-07-19 07:45:28 UTC
Hi Alexander,

You're right. I tried this with 3.0-beta1, and I had to set
unix charset = ISO8859-15
This works for me. Seems, that dos charset is at the correct value initially.

Comment 10 Tim Potter 2003-07-21 21:10:13 UTC
Marking as fixed.
