I am having the same errors as described

and

Unclear if this is a FreeBSD-only bug or not. 
I am using Samba-4.0.3 from FreeBSD ports, URL uses version: Version 4.1.0pre1-GIT-013139e

System is not productive, so I am more than willing to attempt any logging / patches that might help.  

The global portion of the smb4.conf files are : 

[global]
        workgroup = WORKGROUP
        realm = WORKGROUP.DOMAIN.CCTLD
        netbios name = HOSTNAME
        server role = active directory domain controller
        nsupdate command = /usr/local/sbin/samba_dnsupdate

        dns forwarder = GATEWAY
        allow dns updates = true
        interfaces = LOCAL-IP/24
        bind interfaces only = yes
