The cifs share is on a router running OpenWrt (Fonera 2.0n).

When I mount the share with the noserverino option I get the following error from various programs (for instance GNU Make):
getcwd() failed: No such file or directory

If I remove the noserverino option this error disappears but the problem is several programs won't work without it (e.g. latex).

this seems to have been fixed since it was reported back in 2012
