Description Alfred Berger 2012-09-06 07:27:23 UTC
It looks like that some Versions of Windows7 can't be joined to a domain. In our samba environment old versions works fin. But newer Version like:
Windows7 Enterprise/Ultimate N (MSDN Disc 4684.01, 4682.01 of August 2011 with Service Pack 1) can't join the domain. In this case we have installed a french windows 7 version.

We got the the classic error:
"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

The registry entries as advised in http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 have we done.

We are using the samba version:
Version 3.6.3-34.12.1-2797-SUSE-SL12.1-x86_64

And we have about 25 windows boxes (XP, Vista, Windows 7 (en/fr), Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008) which joined smoothly our domain.

Please tell me if you require more detailed information.
