Description Brian A. Clark 2003-12-04 12:51:35 UTC
In building the Samba binaries from source after first using configure then
the HP built-in "make" command, the build stops with this message:

Linking libsmbclient non-shared library bin/libsmbclient.a
Make: Cannot load -rc.  Stop.
*** Error exit code 1 (ignored)

I can send you copies of the configuration file and the Makefile.

I tried "make clean" and re-ran "make", with exactly the same results.

Before this failure, many of the programs were successfully built:

$ ls -s bin
total 817024     1072 profiles    102400 smbd      1616 tdbbackup
66640 net        64256 rpcclient  43360 smbpasswd  28160 testparm
46720 nmbd       58288 smbcacls   38368 smbspool   26832 testprns
29888 nmblookup  40624 smbclient  29840 smbstatus
31504 ntlm_auth  30624 smbcontrol 40544 smbtree
32896 pdbedit    55184 smbcquotas 48208 swat

Thank you.
