Hi! I got a problem several month ago with using samba3 as print server and still can't fix it now. Many of new HP drivers cause crush any current application on clients with Windows XP if they use driver that they got it from samba server. Windows Vista/7 clients work perfect (!) with same driver installed on Samba server. Printers drivers caused an error: HP Deskjet k8600(dn) pro for windows xp HP LaserJet P2050 Series PCL6 for windows xp HP LaserJet 1320n (PCL & PS) some other I can't remember now ( Software tested: 0) OS FreeBSD 7.2 1) Cups 1.3.10, 1.4.4 2) Samba 3.4.9, 3.3.x 3) Networked clients: Windows XP SP2-SP3, Windows Vista (SP1,SP2), Windows 7 Not affected: Windows 7, mb Windows Vista. How to reproduce: Setup new k8600/P2050 printer with cups, check that print from it works goold Setup samba pdc with print suppport and cups, setup print$ share From windows xp login to domain with account that have full 'printer admin privileges' go on server, printers and faxes folder, go to properties of new printer and install drivers to print$ from 'advanced' tab Go to the server and click on the printer, wait when drivers installed on your machine as end user. Try to check/change properties and/or print on it. I got explorer.exe, notepad.exe and other application crushed.
assuming fixed, I saw no such crashes with recent samba releases
