BUG#1767 is still not fixed at Samba 3.5.6.

how the extensions are shown.

(1) The extension of short filename of "test.text" is vanished because "text" is 4 bytes (more than 3 bytes).
(2) The extension of short filename of "test.<A>" is vanished because "<A>" is a non ASCII character.

My smb.conf is:
