Notice the double commas in this section of /etc/samba3/smb.conf 
which was re-written with SWAT3  samba3-swat-3.0.1-0.pre2.2mdk.

    ldap suffix = dc=nelfc,dc=com
        ldap machine suffix = ou=Hosts,,dc=nelfc,dc=com
        ldap user suffix = ou=People,,dc=nelfc,dc=com
        ldap group suffix = ou=Group,,dc=nelfc,dc=com
        ldap idmap suffix = ou=Idmap,,dc=nelfc,dc=com
        ldap admin dn = cn=root,dc=nelfc,dc=com
        message command = /usr/bin/linpopup

The above occurred when I specified ldap suffix = dc=nelfc,dc=com

Later I tried this again with the ldap suffix = (blank on Swat 
web page)  and I ended up with entries like...


ldap machine suffix = ou=Hosts,dc=nelfc,dc=com,dc=nelfc,dc=com

 Fixed in latest SAMBA_3_0 cvs.  Should have been 
filed against 3.0 i think.
