Description David Markey 2009-04-23 13:56:50 UTC
Possibly related to 6263.

PDC: Debian 5, Samba 3.3.3, LDAP Backend

Client: Centos 5.2, Samba 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1

[root@casper ~]# net join
Password:
[2009/04/23 19:56:21, 0] utils/net_rpc_join.c:net_rpc_join_newstyle(371)
Error in domain join verification (credential setup failed): NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Unable to join domain CS.

When i change the version of samba on the server side to 3.2.8(instead of 3.3.3) then i can successfully join the domain.

Any ideas?

Ok, can you provide a log level 10 of the failing "net rpc join" ?
Comment 2 David Markey 2009-04-30 16:42:56 UTC
A yum update brought me from 3.0.28-0.el5 to 3.0.33-3.7.el5 and it started working.

It still might be a good idea to find out what exactly was wrong

Ok, this was the broken credential chain. Fixed in current 3.3 releases.

Closing as fixed.
