Description Debian samba package maintainers (PUBLIC MAILING LIST) 2008-12-07 05:13:21 UTC
See the original Debian bug report. Though the issue initially reported by our user is not directly related to this bug's title, it finally turned out that there is a demand for not being forced to specify the netbios name with "servern" when mounting Win9x shares.

Steve (French) mentioned this as possible in http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2008-January/057747.html

I did not find any bug report about this and I wanted to link our Debian bug to something upstream: hence this bug report

Moving to kernel since this would need to be fixed there.
