Description Jeroen Benckhuijsen 2003-10-06 08:30:56 UTC
In windows, it's possible to use workgroup names containing an @ as the first
character (or any other position i presume), like '@home' (used by a
cable-internet provider in the Netherlands). Samba thinks this the @ sign is
used for authentication only. This prevents me from browsing these workgroups.
Is this a missing samba feature or a windows bug?

you can try this patch. However 2.2.x is in maintainence
mode and isn't going to get much work due form here on out.
I would suggest spending some time testing 3.0.

Thanx for the quick response. I'll try the patch as soon as possible. I'd like
to start testing on 3.0, however the problem is samba is installed on our main
server and I don't want to take the risk running an ¨unstable¨ version on that
server. I'll try to install samba 3.0 on a backup PC i've got running overhere.
