We have about 150 sites currently running Samba 3.0.28a. Close to all sites are Samba DCs with winbind running to provide NTLM authentication for Squid. We've applied Jeremy's patch, from bug 5489, and everything works now (including domain trust relationships which was broken in 3.0.28a).

We are however now experiencing problems with winbind dying.

Just to confirm that we have upgraded about 5 sites to 3.0.30 with Jeremey's patch and we've been seeing winbind dying with signal 6 since then...

Can you upload a debug level 10 version of winbind.log full?

A few things that would help. Run with the environment variable MALLOC_CHECK_=2 (if this is under Linux). Link with electric fence :

http://linux.die.net/man/3/efence

Or beswt of all, run under valgrind if you can (this may be too slow).

We've had to roll back most of our Samba DC sites to 3.0.28a (although inter domain trusts between Samba DCs is broken with that version).

Either the winbindd.log files are cylcing too quickly or we'll have to roll
our test system back to 3.0.30 to catch a winbindd.log file with debug level
9.

Attached please find full winbindd.log file, with debug level 9, with a
sample signal 11...
