Description Andreas Ladanyi 2008-02-26 01:42:07 UTC
Hello,

the "valid users" parameter is not working with Samba 3.0.24, 3.0.26a and 3.0.28.

The logfile says: User: xxx not in list of "valid users".

If i set valid users = %U it works, but this is not a solution for me.

I use winbind to get my data drom ActiveDirectory.

The pam (for shell login) auth. and smbclient (to access samba share) auth. with winbind works perfectly.

Bye,

Andy

Please provide more input. And please note that in a domain environment you have to set "valid users = DOMAIN\username". I can not believe that "valid users" does not work at all in all the versions you mentioned.

Hello Volker,

i couldnt believe it too, and .... the problem was 20 cm in front of the screen :-) ...what else.

You posted that "valid users" in domain environment have to be "=DOMAIN\username".

If i set "valid users = DOMAIN/username" then it works perfect.

I think the same task is to do for domain groups ??

Like: valid users = DOMAIN/groupname ???
