I use samba as pdc and file server on a linux box in a school. I have some directories with permission 0773, i.e. write, but not read permission for others. Into these directories students can copy assignment files etc. On version 3.0.24 this works fine. On all later versions, this seems broken. The students get an error "permission denied". I don't really think this is a feature, or have I missed something? Some of our teachers rely on this. Can you please make it work again! Thanks for all the good work! Mathias
Please upload your smb.conf and a full debug level 10 log (with max log size = 0) of smbd leading up to this failure. Volker

sorry for the lack of feedback. If you see a problem with recent, supported samba versions, please file a new bug for that, I actually assume that this is working right these days if the permissions and samba/winbind are set up right
