Description Mark Pröhl (dead mail address) 2007-08-20 08:48:01 UTC
The example in the smb.conf man page mentions a %o substitution for the old password:

Example: passwd chat = "*Enter OLD password*" %o\n "*Enter NEW password*"
%n\n "*Reenter NEW password*" %n\n "*Password changed*"

Nevertheless, the passwd programm never receives the old password.

Why is %o mentioned?

Should that example be removed?

mark, %o is only available when using encrypt passwords = no
and possibly is some odd configurations with Windows 9x.
I'll add a note in the docs.
