Description imacat 2007-05-17 10:38:03 UTC
Hi. This is imacat from Taiwan. I saw this bug was not submitted before.

I have just upgraded from Samba 3.0.24 to 3.0.25. My environment is x86_64, Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 r0 Etch, kernel 2.6.18-4-amd64, gcc 4.1.2, glibc 2.3.6. We are running Samba as our PDC and only server. I found that after upgrade, the log file is filled up with the following warnings:

...
[2007/05/17 21:00:31, 2] passdb/lookup_sid.c:gid_to_sid(1362)
WARNING: Winbindd not running, mapping ids with legacy code
[2007/05/17 21:00:31, 2] passdb/lookup_sid.c:gid_to_sid(1362)
WARNING: Winbindd not running, mapping ids with legacy code
[2007/05/17 21:00:31, 2] passdb/lookup_sid.c:gid_to_sid(1362)
WARNING: Winbindd not running, mapping ids with legacy code
...

But, as a PDC, this server is not running winbindd at all. I cannot find ay way to avoid this warning. Should this be fixed?

Please tell me if you need any information. Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem.
In my environment (Slackware 11, kernel 2.6.19.2, x86) users also cannot logon with mobile profiles (because PDC cannot be accessed).

Removed log msg since it is redundant and sometimes entirely normal.
Change will be in 3.0.25a.
