make on solaris 9 fails with message about missing endif in proto.h
make proto also fails.

After many, many hours of searching, I ran across an old (2004) message that said "make sure /usr/ucb is not in your path".  That apparently cost the author many hours of time.

So here we are, years and many revisions later.  Same problem, same solution.  Could somebody please put a note in the README?
