In tdbsam or LDAP schema for Samba 3.0, user properties controlled by logon home/drive/path/script in Samba 2.2 series and smbpasswd or such older 
mechanism in Samba 3.0 series are now controlled per user and these
parameters are used to set default values.

But these docs are written based on Samba 2.2 and are not mentioned this fact.
