I tried installing rc3 on a rh9 box (which had the stock rh9 samba from up2date) and I got: [earl@teak earl]# rpm -Uvh ~earl/Download/Linux/samba-3.0.0rc3-1_rh9.i386.rpm warning: /t/home/earl/Download/Linux/samba-3.0.0rc3-1_rh9.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 2f87af6f Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:samba warning: /etc/samba/smb.conf created as /etc/samba/smb.conf.rpmnew ########################################### [100%] Looking for old /etc/smb.conf... This is not our bug, it is the uninstallation portion of the RedHat 2.2.7a RPM. I'm pretty sure this has come up before. Remove the old RPM first and then install the 3.0rc3 RPM from samba.org. Make sure to backup any files you need first (smb.conf, secrets.tdb, etc...)
