When editing text file on Samba 3 PDC, from NT4 client. I have only read rights as group member (on linux fs), only owner has write access. My text editor in NT is TextPad. If I edit the file and try to save, it is corrctly refused as I don't have write access. But if I select Save As, and try to save the file under it's original file name, the original file gets deleted while I still get the message that I don't have sufficient rights to the file. Apparently the original file gets deleted before the rights are checked when doing save as. Seems quite serious to me! Christer
I have tested this with current Samba 3 CVS and cannot repeat. I am using a directory set to be writable by the logged in user, and a file that is readable only be the logged in user. Both notepad and wordpad to the correct thing (save as leaves the original file alone). I am using NT4SP6. I am setting this to "worksforme" unless the original reporter can come up with an exact way to reproduce this. Jeremy.
originally reported against one of the 3.0.0rc[1-4] releases. Cleaning up non-production versions.
