I am trying to use the above mentioned versions to run our single Fileserver with one printer attached for 13 Clients ( all using Windows 98 SE ). But in comparrison to Suse 9.1 with Samba 3.0.2a-51 our Office software for order processing runs much slower? My smb.conf file is displayed below, can you see if i made a mistake somewhere or could this problem be somewhere else. I have installed both above mentioned versions on the same hardware. Suse 9.1 OK, Suse 10.1 to slow. # Samba config file created using SWAT # from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) # Date: 2006/08/20 12:05:08 [global] dos charset = CP850 unix charset = UTF-8 display charset = SuSE has patch their rpms so much you'll need to deal with them directly. I'd suggest filing a bug with them. Although I don't know the URL. Maybe Lars can comment?
Why is this : large readwrite = No set to no ? By default it's set to "yes". You should not change this unless you know what you're doing. Jeremy.
(In reply to comment #2) > Why is this : > large readwrite = No > set to no ? By default it's set to "yes". You should not change this unless you > know what you're doing. > Jeremy. Sorry, just tried several settings. All did not bring a change to performance. Even with Large readwrite = yes there is no difference Mike
Do you still see the same issue with the current Samba 3.4.1? RPM packages are available from the network:samba:STABLE project of the openSUSE Build Service as stated at http://en.openSUSE.org/Samba in the section titled " openSUSE Build Service"
Please reopen if this still applies with 3.5 or 3.6.
