there is an application running on win2k which will try to create and delete files in samba share. samba is configured in HP server rp4440(HPUX11.11).
now the problem is almost every time is is able to do the above things but few times it is showing like the below error message. 

"Error message:    E_01_001_0 \\172.30.1.100\sst_itl\rec\kr\par\KPOD27902xTmp (The network path was not found) "

3.0.7 is pretty old, could you try with 3.0.22?

hello Volker,

thnks for ur responce. your suggestion is good, but can we know what exactly and why this error is comming. and as you suggested we cannot implemented the latest verion, bcz in earlier they are using the same version of samba and why the problem only now.

It could be anything, in particular some hotfix on the client side might have changed behaviour.

If you really need to analyze the problem for 3.0.7, you will need to go to a company doing support for Samba. There's plenty of them available under
http://samba.org/samba/support/.
