After the build, smbstatus complains en_US.msg is missing. I copied en.msg to en_US.msg, and this stopped the alert, but I am not sure this is the correct thing to do.
It does not include the plugins, for example, rid, either in the binary you refer to.

I changed in /etc/environment LANG=en_US to LANG=C to try and see if that would help with this and rebuildt samba. Now smbstatus says it cannot find C.msg. I copied en.msg to C.msg and smbstatus now stops complaining and it says: lang_tdb_init: loading /usr/local/samba/var/locks/lang_C.tdb It's like whatever LANG is set to, it does not make the msg file. Is copying en.msg to these files causing any issues? Is it possibly related to why I cannot use rid idmapping (core dumps winbindd)?
