Here is the problem: 1. Our Quickbooks Enterprise version support 5 users to access the database files which can be located in a network share. 2. Then setup the network share in a Linux 2.4.20 and Samba 3.0.21a PC 3. When 5 users try to access Quickbooks data files at the same time, only 1 or 2 users can access, others just get rejected. 4. Then change the smb.conf oplocks to 0, now 5 users can access at the same no problem. This seems a problem in Samba 3.0.21a.
Please try 3.0.21b when released. There was a bug fixed in just this area. Jeremy.
We test 3.0.21b with Quickbooks multiple user mode, it still failed to allow more than 1 user to open the Quickbooks files shared by Samba 3.0.21b.
Forget to say, this problem is gone only after turn off OPLOCKS.
Please send a debug level 10 log and an ethereal trace of this happening. Thanks. Jeremy.
IIRC Intuit recommends disabling oplocks even on Windows servers. Can you confirm that this works on a vanilla install of a Windows server?
no feedback, also more of a client software issue
