Description Richard F 2005-11-09 02:37:50 UTC
Wins.dat does not seem to refresh after removing a network card.
Scenario:
Add a new network card
Change smb.cof to only allow smb/browser services on new card (e.g. eth2)
Stop using old card - eth0
Later remove eth0
Samba still has the IP address of eth0 in it's wins.dat for the server.
Windows machines incorreclty find the now disused IP address when browsing the
network and only eventually find the actual IP when they give up on wins and do
broadcasts.
No amount of restarting the machine or smb/nmb servers will purge out wins.dat -
manually delete it's OK
