Description Eric Cheng 2005-10-10 16:11:23 UTC
This happens after we upgraded two of our samba server to 3.0.14a

Microsoft Excel on several Windows workstations has been exhibiting
weird behavior today when reporting ownership of locked files. The behavior
observed includes:

This happens only for linked excel spreadsheet

system 1( running solaris 7 and samba 3.0.14a)
- When file is open and locked, and another user tries to open it, Excel
reports the owner of lock as the owner of the file on disk (when it was
last saved), not the person who currently has the file open (the owner
of the lock).

system 2( running fedora 1 and samba 3.0.14a)
- Even though a user has an Excel spreadsheet open, the file is not
locked at all.

please retest with 3.0.20b (dur out today).
Should be fixed.
