Description Andrew Pollock 2005-09-14 04:15:29 UTC
Hi,

It'd be kinda cool if on receipt of some obscure signal, rsync could spit out a
progress update, similar to how it would if it was invoked with such an option.
Similar in behaviour to the way dd does.

Good for long running batch jobs that are logging some output, but not full
progress, to a file.

Love and sloppy kisses,

Andrew

I too would like this feature. I use rsync a great deal, often for long-running tasks, and whilst "lsof" will give some idea of what's happening, being able to tell rsync to report its progress and some stats would be very very useful.

p.s. this feature isn't for rsync version 2.6.4 but for all future versions.

This was fixed in 3.2.0.
