Using Windows98 Explorer:

Using samba-3.0.20rc1-0.1 (somewhere from 3.0.15 to present) on SuSE 9.2

Before I delete the following command to smb.conf:
mangling method = hash

I get two illegal directories in windows explorer for every folder:
~13._
~2S

I believe these are the . and the .. entries.

removing the above command removes the entries.  This was not a problem in 
samba-3.0.15pre2-0.1

I don't believe this is a feature but a bug.  Thanks.

sorry for the same, cleaning up the database to prevent unecessary reopens of bugs.
