My server is in Windows2000 ADS. 
wbinfo -u -OK! 
wbinfo -g -OK! 
wbinfo -n <name of group> -Could not lookup name <name of group>! 
 
When server was in Windows2000 DOMAIN, all was OK.

Same problem.

id user return no such user if getent passwd command has not been executed.

wbinfo -u OK
wbingo -g Ok

wbinfo -n user return SID (after some time, "wbinfo -n user" return could not
lookup name user. execute "getent passwd" and "wbinfo -n user" return the
correct SID) 
wbinfo -n group return could not lookup name group in any case.

samba version: 3.0.9-1.3E.3 (Redhat ES3 )
security domain = ADS. (server is a windows 2003 server)

Works fine in 3.0.20a
