Description Carsten Majer 2005-05-31 06:49:09 UTC
I'm using SLES 9 (and I also tried FreeBSD 5.4, but same problem) with SAMBA as
a print-server for our HP Plotters (HPDJ1050c, HPDJ1050c plus, HPDJ5500). First
everything works fine but after a while it's no more possible to print on the
Plotters. I can print test-pages via cups through the command line, but not out
of my windows environment. I always get the message: "Test page cannot be printed."
My log.smbd says: "could not fetch trust account for domain xxx".
My smb.conf looks like this:
# smb.conf is the main Samba configuration file. You find a full commented
# version at /usr/share/doc/packages/samba/examples/smb.conf.SuSE
# Date: 2004-04-06
[global]
	workgroup = STPLANA
	security = domain
	password server = *
	encrypt passwords = yes
	interfaces = 10.169.57.8 eth0
	bind interfaces only = true
	printing = cups
	printcap name = cups
	printer admin = u610079, @ntadmin, root, administrator
	map to guest = Bad User

[printers]
	comment = All Printers
	path = /var/tmp
	printable = Yes
	create mask = 0777
	browseable = No
	use client driver = no

[print$]
	comment = Druckertreiber Freigabe
	path = /var/lib/samba/drivers
	write list = u610079, root, @ntadmin
	force group = ntadmin
	read only = yes
	guest ok = no
	browseable = yes
	use client driver = no

[Software]
	comment = Freie Standardsoftware
	path = /home/software
	read only = yes
	browsable = yes
	write list = u610079, @ntadmin, root, administrator
	guest ok = yes

Would be very nice if you can help.

Regards,
Carsten

what is "after a while"? Is it s consistent period?
Does a restart of smbd fix the problem or do you have
to rejoin the domain ? Are there any errors about secrets.tdb
being corrupted ? Are there any log messages indicating a
panic in smbd?

I'm going to need a good bit more information to make any
progress on this one.

no feedback in a month (i think). Closing.
