Description Timur Bakeyev 2005-01-19 21:23:53 UTC
This is a very old patch wich we distribute with Samba package in FreeBSD. It
just increases the minimal password length from 5 to 6. IIRC, Samba uses des
encryption of the passwords and with the length of 5 chars it can be cracked in
a few weeks. Well, 6 doesn't change it dramatically, but still a BIT more
secure... Just for your consideration...

Since this is a admin controlled value via pdbedit (not that the
'min password length' option has been deprecated in favuot of
the account policy). I think making this change would cause
more confusion than it is worth. Thanks though.

originally reported against 3.0.11pre1. Moving back to version to 3.0.10
to remove preX and rcX versions.
