How in Samba 3.0 to adjust support of names of domains in length more than 15 symbols? I can not connect the client under WinXP Pro to such domain! In the help on windows it is said, that it is necessary to resolve in Active Directory long names. And where it to resolve in the Samba?
please read athe docs for security = ads and other information. You have a configuration error. Sorry. There's not enough detail to tell exactly what the problem is. I suggest you post the question to the samba ml for help. There's no bug here that I can determine.
I want to specify the question. Samba 3.0 it is located on the server under Linux Fedora and plays role PDC. A domain name - astrokot.kiev.ua. The same name is registered in DNS and DHCP. The client under WinXP Pro cannot be ñonnected to the domain. He writes: There was a mistake: " the DNS-name does not exist. " (an error code: 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) Polling was spent for SRV-recording for _ldap. _ tcp.dc. _msdcs.astrokot.kiev.ua If in Samba to change parameter workgroup=astrokot.kiev.ua on workgroup=astrokot.kiev.u connection of the client goes without problems (adjustments DNS do not vary). Configuration Samba: [global] dos charset = CP866 workgroup = ASTROKOT.KIEV.UA domain logons = Yes os level = 65 preferred master = Yes domain master = Yes wins support = Yes ldap ssl = no hosts allow = 192.168.1.3/255.255.255.0 [homes] valid users = %S read only = No browseable = No [netlogon] path = /samba/netlogon guest ok = Yes browseable = No
this is a netbios limitation no samba bug. As this is just a bug tracking system you should really consider to ask questions about it on the mailing list ;-)
