SuSE 9.1 system, I installed Samba 3.0.7 from SuSE's ftp (ftp://ftp.suse.com/projects/samba). After installing, when attempting to start nmbd, it immediately exits with the following log entry (log.nmbd): [2004/09/23 11:54:29, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(36) =============================================================== [2004/09/23 11:54:29, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(37) INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid 5492 (3.0.7-1.1-SUSE) Please read the appendix Bugs of the Samba HOWTO collection [2004/09/23 11:54:29, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(39) =============================================================== [2004/09/23 11:54:29, 0] lib/util.c:smb_panic2(1381) PANIC: internal error [2004/09/23 11:54:29, 0] lib/util.c:smb_panic2(1389) BACKTRACE: 12 stack frames: #0 nmbd(smb_panic2+0x1ec) [0x80d43c5] #1 nmbd(smb_panic+0x25) [0x80d41d3] #2 nmbd [0x80bfd37] #3 nmbd [0x80bfdad] #4 [0xffffe420] #5 nmbd(wins_process_name_registration_request+0x773) [0x807abaf] #6 nmbd [0x80721ef] #7 nmbd(run_packet_queue+0x63) [0x80724e5] #8 nmbd [0x8060dec] #9 nmbd(main+0x7bc) [0x806185c] #10 /lib/tls/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe0) [0x40254500] #11 nmbd [0x805fa41]
please retest against 3.0.11 and reopen if necessary. Also reset the version if you reopen the bug report. Thanks.
sorry for the same, cleaning up the database to prevent unecessary reopens of bugs.
