Bug with 2 machines : - dosdane = Athlon TBird 1.4 on ABIT KT7A-RAID + RealTek RTL8169 running Debian Sid on 1 system disk and 4 software RAID 5 disks (md) + Samba package 3.0.6-3. The kernel is a custom 2.6.8.1 - feuerfrei = P4 2.8C on ASUS P4P800 Deluxe running XP/SP1 + Mozilla 1.7.2 - between them = DLink DGS1008D (Gigabit switch) My entire mozilla profile (mails, bookmarks, history ...) is stored on the Samba server in my home directory. Home section of smb.conf on dosdane : [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 Symptoms : while browsing the web, mozilla often freezes. It often happens in bookmark related actions (when deleting an old bookmark for example), but not only. During the freeze, there is a high network activity (blinking leds on the switch). On the Samba server, I found these lines in the logs : log.feuerfrei : [2004/09/03 23:33:49, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(648) feuerfrei (192.168.64.4) connect to service totof initially as user totof (uid=1000, gid=1000) (pid 8116) log.smbd : [2004/09/03 23:33:43, 0] lib/util_sock.c:set_socket_options(178) Unknown socket option O_RCVBUF [2004/09/03 23:35:51, 0] lib/util_sock.c:set_socket_options(178) Unknown socket option O_RCVBUF When feuerfrei runs Debian sid, my home directory is mounted via NFS. The same mozilla (1.7.2) does not show the problem and runs fine. That's why I'm focusing on Samba. I hope this helps. And forgive my poor english, I'm french ...
please retest against 3.0.11
