Makefile has this:
SHLIBS =  bin/pam_smbpass.so nsswitch/libnss_winbind.so nsswitch/pam_winbind.so
libsmbclient

There seems to be missing a nsswitch/libnss_wins.so there.

Makefile.in has:
SHLIBS = @SHLIB_PROGS@ @LIBSMBCLIENT@

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's really intended to be this way, I'm
still glossing over the changes in samba3.

I think the wins stuff disappeared amongst other Makefile changes.  It should be
working again now.

originally reported against 3.0.0beta1.  CLeaning out 
non-production release versions.
