Pushed to autobuild-v4-8-test, because I am not sure whether this needs to be in 4.8.3. Let's see if it still works out today...

Yes, I was hoping they could land in 4.8.3 as these (particularly the 1 and 4) are the patches Metze has been gently requesting I backport since SambaXP.
