Hi All, Yikes! Believe it or not, some of us actually read the directions! Unfortunately, the manual page for smb.conf.5 in samba-3.0.2a.tar.gz is severely shortened. This is the last part that shows: The access rights granted by the server are masked by the access rights granted to the specified or guest UNIX user by the host system. The server does not grant more access than the host system grants. The following sample section defines a file space share. The user has write access to the path /home/bar. The share is accessed via the share name ``foo'': Example SMB.CONF(5) (END) I dug smb.conf.5 out of samba-3.0.0.tar.gz and it worked correctly. Although I have no clue what changed in 3.0.2a's manual page. :-( I am using Red Hat 9 on a dual Xeon. Many thanks, --Tony
This should be fixed for 3.0.3. Thanks for reporting!
Works great now. Thank you! --Tony OH NO! Now I have no excuse for not reading the directions?!?!?!? :-D
