Some tests in Samba use a short hostname (these are tests, currently lsa.trusted_domains and a ldap netlogon attribute test) that were added after nss_wrapper was added.

To fully use resolv_wrapper nss_wrapper needs to be avoided for host lookups, and this means we can no longer use the short hostname in the fake host file.
