A bug to track known AD DC related bugs ...
Comment 1 Björn Jacke 2015-07-03 07:03:15 UTC
why this extra layer of complexity by creating meta-meta bugs. To get all the bugs relevant for the AD DC just make a bugzilla search with the desired component and the desired milestone. Like this:

https://bugzilla.samba.org/buglist.cgi?component=AD%3A%20LDB%2FDSDB%2FSAMDB&list_id=3536&query_format=advanced&target_milestone=4.3

(In reply to Björn Jacke from comment #1)

That doesn't work in all cases.

For release related bugs we can use milestones.

This is just a reminder for me to find ad related bugs I know about,
others don't need to care if they don't want...

but please don't spoil the bug dependencies with that. Imagine everybody would add meta bugs and add dependencies with other bugs just to have a reminder for those.

If those reminders should be globally visible then bugzilla KEYWORDS should be used:

Keywords:
You can add keywords from a defined list to bugs, in order to easily identify and group them.

If those reminders should be for you only, bugzilla TAGS can be used:

Tags:
Unlike Keywords which are global and visible by all users, Tags are personal and can only be viewed and edited by their author. Editing them won't send any notification to other users. Use them to tag and keep track of bugs.

Please use those techniques instead of meta bugs with dependencies that just don't match the design and the intended workflow of bugzilla.
