Hi! Our system has been set up with a linux 9.0 server and 32 win98 clients. The other day a student of our school forgot his password and logged in with a user name containing an Umlaut (e.g. Ödetal) just for fun. The system denied access but let him proceed so that he had access to all services in the net without a valid user name. Our control system NetOp school could spot him. This happens with every machine. A single ö or Ä with any password has the same effect. What has to be done to stop or reject German Umlaute? Thanks a lot Johann de Vries

Johann, I'm closing this as the umlaut handling has dramatically changed since 2.2 times. Please re-open this bug if it still exists with 3.0.22. Thanks, Volker
