Description Vladimir Romanov 2013-10-25 15:42:14 UTC
I want to create analogue of Windows Active Directory in my company to share logins, passwords, GPO, Network Printers and all that kind of stuff. So, it's very interesting to read about samba 4.0 evolving.

But i'm Russian, so i want samba docs in Russian. I can understand English very well, but since i will be reading them anyway, i can translate them also for other Russian-speakers.

Question: Can i mirror samba git, translate docs (they're in xml?) to Russian, and append them to this bug? Can someone check them? Is there some Russian-speakers here, in bugzilla? Is this needed at all?

What to do here?

Em... Just say, how can i get docs, who will be checking the quality and how can i submit it to samba team (if the translation is possible at all).

Thanks for your offer to help with the documentation and do translations. Actually we don't like the idea of translated documentations. They get outdated too quick and nobody will notice. Even if I believe that you try to keep them updated, I'm sure sooner or later you won't have time to do that. And more important: even our English documentation is FAR from being complete. There are SO many samba 4 options which are completely undocumented and SO many parametric options that should not exist at all which cannot even be found via "testparm -v". If you you want do do documentation work it would be much more helpfull if you add English documentation instead of translating the existing bytes.

Sad to hear that, but that's your position.
