nmbd does not actually behave as a Local/Domain Master, even when the logs are saying it is in that state. This only appears to be a problem with the Fedora rpms, as I removed them, and forced the RedHat 9 rpm to install, and it works correctly, so it must be a problem with the config files used when building the Fedora rpms. I would be happy to send my smb.conf file to you if needed, however the exact same smb.conf works with the RedHat rpm
