Description TAKAHASHI Motonobu 2009-05-16 10:38:54 UTC
"add printer" command is executed when uploading driver via APW

When we upload a printer driver as desribed:
  http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/classicalprinting.html#id2624181
 * Associate an uploaded driver with an existing (but still driverless) print queue.

 add printer command is executed.
In the document says:
-----
When using the APW from a client, if the named printer share does not exist, smbd will execute the add printer command.
-----

But regardless of existing the printer share, add printer command is executed.

I checked this behavior at Samba 3.3.4 (and Samba 3.0.7 several years ago).

Günther, what's the right thing here:
Updating the documentation or running the command only if the printer share does not exist?

hmm, I've seen several print server setups, where add printer command is only executed when is a printer is added. If you can still reproduce this with a a recent, supported samba version, please reopen this bug and provide a compact list of steps to reproduce the issue.
