The Samba-Bugzilla – Bug 5950
"socket address" use should be discouraged in smb.conf manpage
Last modified: 2008-12-12 07:39:50 UTC
As Debian bug #352313 clearly shows, users "blindly" using options such as "socket address" are shooting themselves in the foot.
So, I suggest that the smb.conf manpage explicitly discourages its use.
Proposed patch attached.
Created attachment 3785 [details]
Patch fdor the smb.conf.5 manpage
Should be fixed with 19beef0dd.
Will be in the next releases.
"Setting this option should never be necessary on usual Samba
servers running only one nmbd" to keep it more general.
