Description Michail A.Baikov 2003-09-12 16:35:52 UTC
When smbd and nmbd started, load 0-2%, but when any users try connect and open
share my linux box got 90-95% load (CPU). Is normal?

Configuration of the smbd server

Perhaps this will help in determing the problem
Comment 3 Gerald (Jerry) Carter (dead mail address) 2003-10-02 12:40:07 UTC
can you run an strace on one of the smbd processes taking up a
lot of CPU? Also perhaps a level 10 debug log. Thanks.
Comment 4 Michail A.Baikov 2003-10-05 01:58:50 UTC

Log from smbd server

Here is a requested attachment. I've to submit the log-file from the
workstation either
Comment 7 Arend 2003-10-11 06:12:40 UTC
The bug isn't fixed at all. I'm now using Samba 3.0.0 (the Latest) downloaded
on 10-10-2003. When I'm copying big files to the server from a WinXP (SP1)
workstation, the CPU is still heavy loaded
Comment 8 Gerald (Jerry) Carter (dead mail address) 2005-02-07 09:06:20 UTC
originally reported against one of the 3.0.0rc[1-4] releases.
Cleaning up non-production versions.

hdparm -d1

sorry for the same, cleaning up the database to prevent unecessary reopens of bugs.
