When smbd and nmbd started, load 0-2%, but when any users try connect and open share my linux box got 90-95% load (CPU). Is normal?
We need a lot more information on this one. Please provide details about your configuration.

The bug isn't fixed at all. I'm now using Samba 3.0.0 (the Latest) downloaded on 10-10-2003. When I'm copying big files to the server from a WinXP (SP1) workstation, the CPU is still heavy loaded
originally reported against one of the 3.0.0rc[1-4] releases. Cleaning up non-production versions.
test your dma settings (IDE). Maybe problem in non dma access to ide hdparm -d1
sorry for the same, cleaning up the database to prevent unecessary reopens of bugs.
