Description Eduard Vopicka 2007-03-04 16:36:34 UTC
Hello.

I have strange problem while trying to access files residing on samba 2.2.12 server (which is actually Asus home router WL-500g Premium with so-called Oleg's firmware - this is the important reason for samba 2.2.x, this box has 32MB of RAM only). I am able to mount the share and I can see the files, but any attempt to access files is denied. Samba server on Asus router logs the following (or similar) error:

Mar 4 23:07:06 smbd[896]: [2007/03/04 23:07:06, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:map_share_mode(443)
Mar 4 23:07:06 smbd[896]: map_share_mode: Incorrect value 80000000 for desired_access to file \scsi-stop.sh

E.g.:

[root@vel tmp]# mount -t cifs //my.router/share /M
Password:
[root@vel tmp]# ls -l /M/scsi-stop.sh
-rwxrwSrwt 1 root root 829 Feb 24 20:28 /M/scsi-stop.sh
[root@vel tmp]# cat /M/scsi-stop.sh
cat: /M/scsi-stop.sh: Permission denied
[root@vel tmp]#
[root@vel tmp]# umount /M
[root@vel tmp]#

and the above mentioned error message in syslog.

Please is there any chance to see this fixed and get 3.0.24 client working against 2.2.12 server?

Version info:

[root@vel TXT]# uname -a
Linux vel.i.cz 2.6.19-1.2911.6.4.fc6 #1 SMP Sat Feb 24 14:39:04 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@vel TXT]# rpm -q samba
samba-3.0.24-1.fc6
[root@vel TXT]#

and on Asus box:

[admin@gw /tmp]$ smbd -V
Version 2.2.12
[admin@gw /tmp]$ nmbd -V
Version 2.2.12
[admin@gw /tmp]$

And smb.conf from Asus box:
