Description PierreM 2006-07-22 06:27:12 UTC
Hi all. I encounter a problem for MS office documents while saving into a share.

It happened since I install recycle in samba. When I save with other softs or anything else, I don't have any problem. I think there is a bug here. Take a look at my smb.conf:

[global]
        server string = Ama2
        socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
        workgroup = lan2003
        os level = 20

        dns proxy = no
        wins support = no
        name resolve order = lmhosts host wins bcast

        max log size = 50
        log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
        syslog only = no
        syslog = 0
        panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d

        password server = None
        security = SHARE
        invalid users = root

        hide special files = no
        hide unreadable = no
        hide dot files = no

-- Shares --

[tmp]
   comment = Temporary file space
   path = /home/data
   read only = no
   public = yes
   vfs objects = recycle
   recycle:exclude = *.tmp *.temp *.o *.obj ~$*
   recycle:keeptree = True
   recycle:touch = True
   recycle:versions = True
   recycle:noversions = .docx|.doc|.xls|.ppt
   recycle:repository = .recycle
   recycle:maxsize = 0
   veto files = /*.TMP/*.tmp/

[share]
   comment = Share file space
   path = /home/share
   read only = no
   public = yes
   vfs objects = recycle
   recycle:exclude = *.tmp *.temp *.o *.obj ~$*
   recycle:keeptree = True
   recycle:touch = True
   recycle:versions = True
   recycle:noversions = .doc|.xls|.ppt
   recycle:repository = .recycle
   recycle:maxsize = 0
   veto files = /*.TMP/*.tmp/

[sales]
   comment = Sales file space
   path = /home/sales
   read only = no
   public = yes
   vfs objects = recycle
   recycle:exclude = *.tmp *.temp *.o *.obj ~$*
   recycle:keeptree = True
   recycle:touch = True
   recycle:versions = True
   recycle:noversions = .doc|.xls|.ppt
   recycle:repository = .recycle
   recycle:maxsize = 0
   veto files = /*.TMP/*.tmp/

Could you see what could be the problem ? Thanks

What is the problem you're seeing ? If you don't tell us what MS-Office is saying we have no clue what the problem might be. Please be more specific.
Jeremy.

Sorry, it's under MS office XP and 2003. With more research, the problem isn't VFS .
Sorry again ! It's really not specific to VFS. I saw the bug was detected in other reports, but it don't works anymore.

I find a key in regedit to modify, bot nothings happened, and I find lock samba options. I desactivated those, but noting works anymore too.

The problem appear only with MS Office XP, 2003 and 2007b.

Any idea ?
Thanks

You still haven't described what the problem is !!!
*What* are you seeing ? What, exactly, is the problem ?
Jeremy.

I didn't ??? Well ! When I open a Office document on a windows desktop or on a samba share, I can save on a share during about 15 sec.

After that, I can't save on a samba share ! And I can't save in another name on a Samba Share. It tells me that I have not the good rights or I don't have enought free space on the server.

But's that's totally wrong because with other non office files/folders/applications, it works fine.

I don't know what this problem happened.

Thanks
